Note: * Where progesterone cream is mentioned, I recommend starting with a natural progesterone promoter like Chaste Tree Berries found in my Herbal Formuals. Homeopathic progesterone is also good. When these fail (give them some time), consider progesterone cream or doctor prescpribed compounded progesterone tablets.

Teens and Twenties

Acne – No sugar (feeds pimples), no salt. Take probiotics to restore balance. Add chromium, manganese, zinc and magnesium to your diet. Take B Complex to support adrenals. No hydrogenated oils. Vitamin B6 stops pimples. Vitamin A beautifies skin.

Oily Skin – Add a drop of geranium or lemon essential oil to your moisturizer.

Sensitive Skin – Vitamin C. Mask of Milk of Magnesia (weekly). Exfoliate by mixing skin cleanser with baking soda. Add to 1 oz. jojoba oil, 3 drops of neroli oil 2 drops rose oil and 2 drops of sandalwood oil. Apply several drops twice a day. Add jasmine, rosewood or sandalwood essential oil to your moisturizer at night.

Facial Hair – Lack of progesterone, use natural progesterone cream* (1/4 tsp. starting 12th day of cycle for max 24 days, take 5-day break). Avoid sugar and bad carbohydrates.

Split Ends – Zinc and panthenol in vitamin B5 found in wheat germ and nutritional yeast.

Beautiful Bones – Important to focus on developing bones now for later in life. Eat calcium-rich foods. Magnesium is a must to balance calcium at a 2:1 ratio. Stay away from calcium zappers like sugar, coffee, soft drinks and alcohol.

Thirties and Forties

Lines Under the Eyes – Brew eye bright tea and dunk gauze or tea bag into it and apply to eye for 30 minutes (Keep it moist). Mix one egg white with enough heavy cream so the preparation spreads easily. Apply to clean skin. Let it dry. Break of capsule of Vitamin E and apply at night to lines.

Puffy Eyes – Steep herbal (chamomile preferred) tea bags in hot water for 20 minutes then refrigerate. Place cold bags on eyes.

Dark Circles – Place ½ a fresh fig over each eye. Leave on for 20 minutes. Dark circles are a signal of parasites or allergies. Remove all allergens from your diet, including wheat, dairy and chocolate. Do a parasitic cleanse.

Wrinkles – Magnesium hydrates and calms. Take with Vitamin B6 and grapefruit seed extract. You may have a Vitamin A deficiency. Take 25,000 IU a day (not if pregnant). Apply Vitamin E capsule at night. Try a yogurt toning mask to tighten and tone your skin. Apply plain yogurt with a little fresh lemon juice. Leave on for 20 minutes.

Collagen Loss – Take 500 to 3,000 mg. of Vitamin C daily. The amino acid Proline rebuilds collagen.

Dry Skin – Vitamin A deficiency. Take 25,000 IU a day. Use rosewater as a toner. Apply good mayonnaise facial. Make a mask of oatmeal and add a whipped whole egg. Massage into face and let stand for five to ten minutes. Rinse with warm then cool water. Try a mask of 1 egg, 1 tblsp. Milk and 1 tsp. honey. Try an aromatherapy mask – blend 2 drops of sandalwood oil, 1 drop frankincense oil with 2 tsps. of honey. Add a couple drops of essential oils such as neroli, lavender or jasmine to your moisturizer to soften dry skin.

Freckles and Brown Spots – Result of exposure to the sun. Take antioxidants like Vitamin C and E. Brown spots on hands, face, arms and other parts of the body that are not attributed to excess sun may be a sign of adrenal insufficiency. Reduce stress, apply vitamin E on spots and take a natural progesterone. Cucumber masks help bleach freckles and lighten brown spots. Cover with hot wash cloth. Lemon juice is also an old-time remedy.

Petachiae (Elevated Red Spots) – Cleanse your liver. Take a daily high-fiber supplement, probiotics and digestive enzymes. Choose liver cleansing and supporting herbs like peppermint, milk thistle, artichoke, and burdock root.

Pale Skin – Sign of anemia. Iron from red meat, nettle herb, organic liver, beans eggs, spinach and broccoli. Apply buttermilk or milk of magnesia to bring circulation back to the face. Usually a sign of lack of acid in the body. Use a vinegar wash.

Enlarged Facial Pores – Control the excessive oil and tighten pores with a topical vitamin B complex. Protein helps tighten the pores. You can find it in liquid form to apply to a stubborn pore. Ask your hairdresser or health food store. Witch hazel also tightens and cools hot flashes. Try a facial mask made with one beaten egg white mixed with lemon juice to tighten pores. Another mask—mix almond meal with enough water to make a paste. Apply to pores for twenty minutes. Rinse and apply witch hazel.

Blotchy Skin – Sign of hormonal imbalance—probably copper and estrogen overload. Increase your progesterone by taking zinc (a precursor) and a copper-free multivitamin. Birth control pills contain copper. A topical progesterone cream* (1/2 tsp, once a day—break during period). Food with zinc: organic eggs, organic beef and pumpkin seeds. Splash face with cider vinegar to even out skin tone.

Facial Hair – A lack of ovulation in a skipped period can cause the adrenal cortex to secrete the androgen hormone androstenedione as an alternative. This steroid is associated with male characteristics. Raise your progesterone levels with cream* (see blotchy skin) and your androstenedione levels will decline. There may be too much sugar in your diet, including pastas, breads, etc. Carbs increase the secretion of insulin, a hormone that can trigger the adrenals to secrete the androgens testosterone and androstenedione which are responsible for hair growth on the face.

Dull Hair – Try vitamin A and foods rich in this nutrient. Any orange fruit or veggie. Also try adding vitamin E and fish oil to your diet. Be sure your daily multiple vitamin contains niacinamide (b3) to give your hair shine. Trace mineral silica can also add luster. Bump up your protein absorption by taking two HCL and pepsin capsules with every protein meal of meat, fish, poultry or beans.

Dry Hair – Essential oils for dry hair: Add a couple of drops of essential oils of lavender, rosemary or cedarwood to your shampoo or conditioner.

Oily Hair – Essential oils for oily hair: Add cypress, lemon, juniper or pine to your shampoo or conditioner. If you have dandruff, add a couple of drops of tea tree oil instead.

Hair Loss – Biotin is most effective in preventing hair from falling out. Use a topical progesterone cream* (see blotchy skin). Eat plenty of protein. Mix ½ cup of cayenne pepper with a pint of 100-proof vodka. Every day for two weeks, shake—then strain. You now have liquid capsicum. Don’t drink it. Apply the mixture to the thinning areas of your scalp. Watch for new sprouts five to six weeks.

Mouth Corner Cracks – Can be a sign of B2 deficiency. Check that your multiple vitamin has at least 50 mgs. Don’t take more than that.

Brittle Nails – Cut the carbs, and eat more protein. Remember your nails are made up of 98% protein. Take an MSM (methylsulfonylmethane) supplement which contains sulfur. It is one of nature’s beauty minerals for hair, skin and nails. Take 500 mg. 3xs a day. Take flaxseed or evening primrose oil. If you wash your hands a lot, put a waxy lip balm on them to waterproof them.

Nail Fungus – Soak nails in hydrogen peroxide twice a day. Apply tea tree oil topically to fungus.

Dry Nails – My favorite nail moisturizer is the Peach Cuticle Cream by Sally Hansen. Apply daily. Pure lanolin is good in extreme cases.

Spider Veins – Drink a lot of water to allow the body to sweat. That’ll prevent capillaries from erupting on your face when flushed. Pycnogenol (bioflavonoid) also strengthens capillaries and stabilizes collagen. Apply topical vitamin K to diminish and sometimes fade spider veins.

Varicose Veins – Apply apple cider vinegar straight with cotton to veins. They should shrink by one month. A horse chestnut seed extract will also help build blood vessel walls. Increase Vitamin C intake.

Fifties, Sixties and Beyond

Beautiful Bones – Try Ipriflavone (400 mgs/day), a nonhormonal prevention for osteoporosis. Make herbal vinegars for your bones our of Yellow Dock Root, peppermint, garden thyme or sage. All loaded with calcium, magnesium, potassium, zinc, selenium and more. Make an herbal infusion of Nettle leaf, Oatstraw, Red Clover Blossoms, or Comfrey leaves. Eliminate all soy products.

Thinning Hair – Biotin is great to stop hair falling out. Use a natural progesterone cream* (1/4 tsp). Use it once a day for 25 days then take a 1-2 week break and resume again. Eat plenty of protein. If you eat low-fat you ay lack sulfur which can lead to hair loss. Eat eggs to accommodate. Eat silicon in steel-cut oats, apples, honey, avocadoes, artichokes and sunflower seeds.

Problem Gums – Take CoQ10 (30-90 mg daily) to help with bleeding gums or any deterioration of the teeth. You’ll also need vitamin C and magnesium.

Dry Skin – Vitamin A (25,000 IU/day). Try lanolin moisturizer. Take an unscented body cream, add 4 capsules of vitamin A and 10 capsules of vitamin E and mix them together. Eat fatty acids like salmon, nuts and seeds. For hand cream, mix olive oil with a pinch of cream of tartar, ½ pint of rosewater and a pinch of borax to preserve.

Tired Eyes – Cucumbers and black tea bags on eyes really do work. Separately of course.

Insomnia – Vitamin B12, magnesium before bedtime, melatonin. Drink sea salt water to neutralize the acid in your system. Don’t exercise at night. Get sunlight every day to adjust your pineal gland.

Depression – Avoid carbs, eat a lot of protein and take flaxseed oil or evening primrose oil daily. Consider St. John’s Wort tincture or Motherwort tincture. Take for a while to feel affects.

Rashes, Rosacea and Dermatitis – Apply a topical natural progesterone cream until it disappears.

Eczema – Try colloidal oatmeal products for relief. Try pure lanolin ointment as used by breastfeeding moms or a comfrey balm. Take 25,000 IU’s of vitamin A.

Psoriasis – Borage oil (puncture capsule and apply), zinc (25-50 mgs/day) and essential fatty acids of flaxseed, olive and primrose oils.

Aching Muscles – Epsom salt bath rich in magnesium and apply arnica gel to muscles (give it a few minutes to work).

Sagging Muscles – Add more potassium-draining foods to your diet may do the trick. Select foods like parsley, sunflower seeds, almonds, turkey, mushrooms, chard, spinach, cantaloupe and avocado.
